Faith Formation for Adults
Parish Bible Study
St. John’s will continue to offer a Scripture study resuming September 17, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The group meets in the conference room in lower St. John’s, twice a month on the Tuesdays listed below.
The topic for the study will be the Gospel of Luke, which will also be the Gospel that shapes our liturgies during the Liturgical Year C that begins on the first Sunday of Advent on December 1. Dr. Eileen Burke-Sullivan will facilitate the group, and members are encouraged to bring any contemporary translation of the Bible. If any participant’s first language is other than English they are welcome to bring their copy of the Scriptures in the language that is their first language.
The meeting dates, as currently scheduled, are:
September 17
October 1 , 15, 29
November 12, 26
December 3, 17
January 7, 21
Note that absence from one or more sessions is not a problem if one wants to attend most of them.

Racial Justice Learning Group
The St. John’s racial justice learning group invites you to join us as we deepen our understanding and insight on what justice and fairness mean. We are each responsible for doing our own work of listening and learning in the world. We gather once monthly to share the fruits of this listening in a Zoom conversation, which allows us to ask questions and share our curiosity in a nonjudgmental environment. Contact Sara Schulte-Bukowinski at 402-280-2934 sarasb@creighton.edu to sign up. We look forward to growing on this journey together
Youth Education and Sacramental Preparation
Registration for the 2024-25 Religious Education year is open and will remain available until August 10th, 2024. You can register by clicking here. Please contact SaraSB@creighton.edu 402-280-2934 for more information.
Our religious education program is for children from age 3 through 8th grade. We meet from 9-10:15 on Sundays during the academic year. Our youngest children (age 3 through Kindergarten) participate in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium with hands-on learning to help them grow in their friendship with God, and to celebrate this friendship in the life of the Church. Students from 1st through 8th grades meet in a classroom setting with catechists about 3 times a month. About once a month parents share adult faith formation, which deepens community and helps prepare them for continuing their children’s learning with at-home family catechesis. 2nd and 8th grade students typically have 4 supplementary formational sessions per semester to help them prepare for the reception of sacraments.
