Holy Thursday Ensemble 2023

Music ministers at St. John's are warm and inviting people who love making music together. Whatever talents a new student or parishioner brings to this ministry, it will be welcomed and appreciated. - 2024 Parish Community Ensembles member

The Saturday 5:00pm and Sunday 10:30am Ensembles serve the St. John’s Parish community every week of the year. They use the same music on a given weekend, drawn primarily from the Glory & Praise hymnal (3rd edition) and the Jesuit heritage of our parish. To get the weekly music selections for these Masses with links to listen, join the Parish Music Ministry list-serv.

There is no strict attendance policy for these ensembles - simply come to rehearsal the hour before Mass if you want to join that day! Regular members are given a choral hymnal and octavo binder each week and are asked to communicate about upcoming absences. These are great music ministry communities for those who prefer a flexible time commitment.

In addition to the sense of community that rehearsing and performing foster, I think being part of the choir has deepened and broadened my faith. A big reason for that is the thoughtful choice of the music. It opens my mind to new insights. Thinking about the songs as I listen to the readings has often led me to a deeper understanding of the Word.
